Self-Tie Shibari

  • 12850 91st St #1207 Largo, FL 33773 United States (map)

A Swiss Seat is a versatile, beginner-friendly hip harness adapted from an emergency climbing technique. Known for its speed and simplicity, it provides reliable support in seated or face-up positions, making it a popular first suspension harness for self-tiers. The structure distributes weight through the hips and thighs, creating a secure hold that can accommodate dynamic movement. Many variations refine the original design for comfort and efficiency. Some emphasize a compact front stem for stability and responsiveness, while others offer wide front adaptations that shift pressure away from the waist to the hips, improving comfort for different body types and flexibility levels. Capable of inversions and self-suspension, the Swiss seat is best valued as a foundational and versatile harness.

This class is made specifically for beginner and intermediate self-tiers, although tying pairs will be able to follow along, so we encourage everyone to come. The ties in this class are all beginner-friendly, and will include optional intermediate variants if you wish to challenge yourself. If this will be your first class ever, please review this video and come introduce yourself to our instructor at the beginning of class. E will make sure you are starting with a good foundation.

We are going to do a deep dive into Swiss seats and the many variations that are available. Class starts promptly at 8pm with introductions and discussion. We will start by going over some “negotiation” tips for self-tying and how one can prepare themselves. Then, we will learn two classic Swiss Seat patterns that will cover both forward and reverse tensions. Last, we can dive into other variations or additions to the harness, depending on class time and interest.
