Phoenyx (she/her) is not simply an educator—she is a woman on a mission to improve the community by teaching how to navigate this lifestyle safely, effectively, and passionately. While she teaches a multitude of topics, BDSM 101 is her passion. Don’t let the name fool you, though—this class is comprehensive, covering everything from safety and negotiation skills to ongoing, enthusiastic consent, vetting, play styles, implements, dungeon etiquette, and so much more.

Phoenyx has been in the lifestyle for well over two decades, the last eight or so years as a public-facing community mentor. She found her passion in education about five years ago and has made the most of it at every opportunity. She is well-respected in the community for her knowledge and service-mindset.

She is a submissive top, which furthers her service side. She finds joy in topping others as an act of service. Her heart as an educator and submissive shows in everything she does. Not only will you enjoy her class, but you’ll find her easy to approach and ask questions. In fact, she encourages it. Don’t let her fool you!   Stepping into the world of BDSM can be exciting, empowering, and a little overwhelming. BDSM 101: Introduction to BDSM, Consent & Dungeon Etiquette offers a welcoming, judgment-free foundation for anyone curious about kink, exploring power exchange, preparing to visit a dungeon or play space, or re-entering the lifestyle. We’ll move beyond myths and misconceptions to explore the many ways people engage with BDSM—while emphasizing that, while there is no single “right” way to be kinky, there are ways to do it safely.

  In this class, you’ll learn the essentials of informed and ongoing consent, risk-awareness, negotiation, boundaries, safewords, and aftercare. We’ll also cover communication of desires and boundaries, respectful dungeon etiquette, and the basics of impact play, sensation play, bondage, restraint, and other common activities.

  Whether you’re completely new, curious about attending a play space, or looking to build confidence and communicate more clearly, this class will help you explore BDSM with greater knowledge, self-awareness, respect, and safety—without pressure to participate in anything.
